Hallo Robert und Kim! Wer hat die besten Pinguin Fotos? Ich gehe davon aus dass in ihre jetzt gerade genau das gleiche macht wie wir, nur auf der Atlantik Seite in Argentinien. East coast vs. West coast Pinguin? Wie hatten Humbold und Magelan im Angebot.

Wir haben uns jetzt doch dazu entschlossen die Insel chiloe etwas zu erkunden. Also ging es mir der Fähre Richtung der nördlichsten Stadt Ancud.
Okt 19
Auf Umwegen und schlechten Wegen geht es über Conaripe durch die Region de los rios. Auch hier stellen wir wieder fest, dass sich die schlechteren Strassen durch die schönsten Aussichten und Orte bezahlt machen. Wir übernachten bei den Termales Pellaifa und genießen das warme Wasser.
Da man ja nicht jeden Tag Fahrrad fahren will, sind wir heute auf den villarica Vulkan gestiegen. Mit einer bunt gemischten Gruppe aus Chilenen und Israelíes ging es um 6 Uhr morgens los. Der Aufstieg auf 2816m war recht entspannt. Zeitweise gab es heftigen Wind, der aber am Gipfel dafür sorgte, dass wir nicht allzu viel Schwefel atmen mussten. Der Vulkan Villarica ist nämlich Chiles einziger Daueraktiver. Bergab ging es dann mit grandiosem Blick auf corillera blanca und die Seenlandschaft auf Rutschtellern in 45min bis zum Parkplatz. Vielleicht keine großartigen bergsteigerische Leistung, aber devinitiv ein großartiger Tag.

Wir sind wieder am radln und fahren von Temuco aus Richtung Puerto Mont - immer auf der Suche nach heißen Quellen. Es ist Frühling - im November! Überall blühen Blumen und das Grün der Bäume ist noch frisch.

We took a bus to Chiles most artsy port town because a couple in the hostel was so excited about it. So we decided to go there for a day - and it was totally worth it. Very nice climate, beautiful houses painted with mirrals and a interesting history. The town Chiles biggest port and one of the richest cities in the world until the Panama canal was built. Since it is very hilly there it has 27 Asencors to save you some walking up the endless stairs.
Nov 7-9
Welcome to Chiles huge capital, Santiago. A world of fast flowing Internet, mac donalds Restaurants and all the other amenities that I rarely ever missed in the last months. Compared to the South America we have seen so far it is impressively clean, modern and feels like a vibrant Spanish city in the heart of Europa.
After 2 days in Valparaiso we explored the markets and the cementerio, which remind you that you are still in South America. The cemetery was definitily the most impressive I have seen. The contrast reflects the big social gap here. You see seven sorry buildings with thouthands of Graves in them beside little pslaces for only one family.
A grave of a child where people ask her for miracles and put up a little plaque if it came true.

It's Lyndsys birthday! Unfortunately no cake to be found and we are heading into a pretty remote area. Although we found a massive bottle of red wine to go with our next diners.
On our way to Mt. Sajama we meet Flu and Sam (buerkis.com) and continue riding in great company. After a few km we enter Sajama national park (Bolivia's highest volcano with 6542m).
The road was tough, lots of sand and rocks but the landscape was amazing. Riding through a canyon landscape with crazy stone pillars.
As we pull into Sajama, a little mountaineering town for lunch it starts to hail. Perfect to stay longer for too many cookies. As we hit the tarmac again it starts to rain for the last 12km to tambo quemado where we stay over night.
Okt 22
Wir sind in Chile! Die Grenzkontrollen sind streng. Alle unsere Taschen werden nach frischen Lebensmitteln durchsucht. Die Bohnen und den Knoblauch müssen wir leider hier lassen. Auf dem weg durch den vincunas national park werden wir für 6 Tage recht allein sein und die Landschaft genießen können. Wir finden nach 10km Thermale quellen. Endlich können stuffy und Tilly etwas im warmen Wasser entspannen. Auch die Hütte ist mit dem Thermalbecken gut geheizt. Die Wasserflaschen sind am nächsten morgen aber komplett gefroren.
The second day in the park had spectacular few of the surrounding volcanoes, one of them still smoking among. We spent the night in an dry river bed, to shelter us from the strong winds. The night is clear and cold. Even the water bottles in the Trent are frozen. One more time I'm in love with my down sleeping bag.
